Getting to the beach just got a whole lot easier. Walton County Tourism has expanded its free beach tram service, launching new routes on March 1 that link two municipal parking facilities to several of South Walton’s most beloved regional beach accesses — easing parking demand and making the shoreline more reachable for visitors and locals alike.
“This program has been years in the making,” said Tabatha Bolen, transportation manager for Walton County Tourism, in a social media post. “It is exciting to be part of a program that provides a needed service that truly benefits our guests, both visitors and the local community.”
Travelers can park at no cost at either the 393 Municipal Parking Facility — located at 1668 South County Highway 393, four blocks north of 30A at Gulf Place — or the Grayton Beach Municipal Parking Facility at 1505 South County Highway 283, four blocks north of 30A on Highway 283. Both facilities offer covered and air-conditioned waiting areas, restrooms, and rotating local art. Trams run every 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the route.
From the 393 facility, riders can catch a direct tram to Ed Walline Regional Beach Access at Gulf Place, or take the west route with stops at Dune Allen and Fort Panic regional beach accesses. Service runs daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Out of Grayton Beach, the existing direct route to downtown Grayton — with its shops, restaurants, and the main beach access at the Western Lake outfall — runs daily from 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. The new west route, beginning March 1, adds stops at Blue Mountain, Gulfview Heights, and a cross-connection to the 393 facility, running 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A third facility at Driftwood Road in Miramar Beach will join the program once construction is complete, with a direct route to Miramar Regional Beach Access and additional stops along Scenic Gulf Drive to follow. Full route details for that location are still pending.
